Dream 11, a popular Indian fantasy sports platform, has recently launched a new campaign for the TATA IPL 2023 (Indian Premier League). This advertisement features three Bollywood actors, Amir Khan, R. Madhavan, and Sharman Joshi, alongside some of India’s top cricketers, including Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, R Ashwin, Rahul Chahar, and Yuzendra Chalal.
Before the advertisement was launched, some cast members of the 2009 Bollywood blockbuster “3 Idiots,” including Kareena Kapoor Khan, Boman Irani, and Javed Jaaferi, posted a video hinting that something was happening between the trio of Amir, R Madhavan, and Sharman Joshi, leading to speculation about a possible sequel to the movie. This created a sense of curiosity among social media users.
Kareena Kapoor, Boman Irani and Javed Jaffrey posted videos complaining that Aamir, Sharman and Madhavan are making a sequel to ‘3 Idiots’ without them. The brand created a lot of speculation around the project and it was revealed today that it is an advertisement for Dream 11.

However, after the launch of the campaign, it became clear that it was not related to the sequel but was, in fact, a Dream 11 campaign. The advertisement shows the three actors delivering a press conference on cricket and competing with the cricketers with a touch of humor. The campaign was aired on 25th March and was conceptualized by Tilt Brand Solutions.
In the video, the cricketers mock the actors in return, with Ravichandran Ashwin pointing out that talking doesn’t cost any money. Rohit Sharma also takes a jibe at Amir for thinking that his movie “Lagaan” made him a cricketer.

The cricketers are seen laughing and ridiculing the actors’ idea of playing cricket. However, Aamir counters them by citing his 300 crore films, but Jasprit Bumrah questions whether he can ever score 150 on the field. The video also highlights how difficult it can be on the field for actors. Hardik Pandya cites how even a single bouncer can bring them down to the ground.
For several days before the launch of the advertisement, Aamir, Sharman, and R Madhavan had been preparing their fans for the brand ad, leading them to believe that a sequel to “3 Idiots” was in the works. Even Kareena Kapoor shared a video expressing her surprise at not being informed about the sequel’s development.
