The construction of the Central Vista project in New Delhi, including the new Parliament Building, is currently underway at a fast pace. However, rumors have been circulating on social media that the new Parliament Building is being built by the Tata Group for an astonishingly low cost of just Rs 1 and within a record-breaking 17 months.
Numerous Twitter users have shared these claims, which have been shared thousands of times. One user even claimed that “TATA built it and only 1 rupee as a cost to the govt. This is TATA’s gift to the nation.”
Fact Check: Did Tata Group build Parliament building in Rs 1?
However, these claims have been debunked as false. According to The Economic Times, the Tata Group won the contract for the construction of the new Parliament building for the Central Vista project by outbidding Larson and Toubro with a bid over Rs 861 crore. This means that the claim of the building being constructed for Rs 1 is completely untrue.

Furthermore, a press release from the Press Information Bureau (PIB) reveals that the construction work on the new Parliament building has crossed the 17-month mark, making the claim of it being constructed within such a short timeframe also false.
